Today we launched the new website for the Ricardo Florés Magon Academy a Charter School in Denver, Colorado. RFMA hosts the only public tennis academy offering daily tennis lessons in the United States and a chess program to strengthen critical thinking. The school is a public school with a special focus towards bilingual students.

The new magonacademy.org

The school’s existing website was difficult for them to update, was not connected to their social media pages and the design didn’t match how the school wanted to present itself, its curriculum and its students.

We were able to make the photos of the students the central focus of the website. We also included an easy to use photo gallery section so events, classrooms and field trips can be shared.

Twitter now replaces the old method of providing parents with up to the minute updates from the school and these updates can be found on each page as well as easy links to follow the school on Twitter, Google+, Facebook and YouTube.

The Enroll Now button on the home page and link at the top of every page lead everyone to a redesigned new student application. The application is easier to fill out for parents and fully customizable by the staff. Applications are emailed to the school along with an attached text file to import into Excel. They are also stored by the website providing a quick way to review and download all applications for any time period.

The design is a responsive one which adapts to the screen size of a web browser, iPhone, Android or iPad, so the information is very readable on all platforms.

We also implemented a two column layout with minimal code so the content is presented in both English and Spanish to create an approachable site for the bilingual community to school supports.
